NetBank isn’t just for paying bills and checking transactions. These NetBank extras will help you stay motivated with saving to reach your goal sooner.
5 easy tricks in NetBank to help you save
Saving’s always easier when you have your goal in sight. Try renaming your savings account in NetBank, after your goal e.g. ‘I’m going to New York’, ‘Our wedding day’ or ‘Dream house deposit, you'll be reminded what you're saving for every time you log on. It's a great way to stay motivated.
Another way to keep your goal top of mind is to make it part of your NetBank password. Just the act of typing it out will give you a psychological boost each time you log on.
How to do this: In NetBank go to More and select My password. Follow the prompts to set a new password with your goal built in. Just remember to mix it up with capital letters, numerals and special characters to make it as secure as possible.
Do you sometimes find yourself raiding your savings accounts for extra cash even though you know you shouldn’t? An easy way to avoid temptation is to hide your savings account in NetBank and the CommBank app, so you can't see it or transfer money from it. Any automatic transfers will work as normal and you can unhide it again at any time.
My Spend is a tool that can show you where your money is going. It groups your transactions into common categories like groceries, bills and entertainment and shows you what you’re spending on each. You can also create your own categories and transaction labels, so you can analyse your spending to find new ways to save.
Portfolio view makes it easy to work out exactly where you stand financially, by showing you all your assets and liabilities in one place. It automatically tracks the value of your CommBank savings accounts, super, loans, and CommSec share account (if you have one). You can also add other assets and borrowings held elsewhere for a truly complete picture.
How to do this: On your NetBank homepage select the Portfolio tab (beside Accounts) to add, update or remove your assets and liabilities. You can get an estimated value of your property as well as access to handy tools, relevant market news and educational information.
