Yes, Tap& Pay is password protected and you will require your CommBank app PIN to turn Tap & Pay on and off from within the CommBank app. 

Once activated, you can turn the Tap & Pay functionality on and off from within the app.

If Tap & Pay is turned off, any attempted payment will be declined by the merchant terminal.

If it’s turned on, Tap & Pay can be used whether or not the app is open (so long as the phone is not asleep or off).  If you're using a CommBank PayTag, it can still be used if your phone is switched off or your battery has run out.
