Tap & Pay allows your customers to make payments in store using their mobile.

Tap & Pay is only available to CommBank customers using the latest CommBank app.

Tap & Pay uses Near Field Communication (NFC) technology to allow fast and secure contactless payments with their smartphone via a CommBank PayTag or a Samsung GALAXY S4.

If you already accept MasterCard® PayPass™ or Visa payWave contactless payments, you can accept Tap & Pay from mobiles.

Tips for accepting CommBank PayTag

The Samsung GALAXY S4 has the technology integrated into the phone.

For contactless transactions of up to $100 CommBank PayTag holders simply position their mobile over one of the corners of the terminal. No PIN or signature is required.

If you have an external contactless reader, one green light will flash to let the customer know to position their CommBank PayTag against the device.

If your terminal has an in-built contactless reader, the contactless symbol will display after you enter the transaction amount.

The PayTag will also work if it is attached to or underneath the cover of the phone.

How to process a contactless transaction

Simply process the PayTag transaction through your point of sale system as you would a MasterCard® PayPass™ or Visa payWave card. The rest is done for you by the terminal and contactless reader in 4 easy steps:

Does your customer have a CommBank PayTag or a Samsung GALAXY S4 Smartphone?

Look for the MasterCard® PayPassTM or Visa payWave symbol displayed on the reader or terminal. ‘Tap’ the CommBank PayTag against the contactless symbol. Towards the top right hand corner.

Step 3 Tap and Pay

Listen for the ‘beep’ and remove the phone.
