What's a Simple Merchant Plan?

A Simple Merchant Plan allows your business to pay a fixed monthly amount for your payment terminal, as long as you stay within the included monthly card turnover2. Any eligible business that wants to get a CommBank payment terminal like Albert and a monthly plan can apply.

  • Choose a device and plan. No lock in plan and includes AMEX at no extra charge1
  • Settle transactions to a CommBank Business Transaction Account for no monthly fee3 
  • See funds in your account on the same day with Everyday Settlement4
  • Pay a fixed monthly amount for your device and transaction, as long as you stay within the included monthly card turnover2
  • Get access to all major card schemes, including American Express® and JCB1, Mastercard®, Visa and UnionPay7

Reach more customers with American Express Shop Small

This November, American Express® is giving back to local small businesses, through its Shop Small campaign. As a CommBank Merchant on our Simple Merchant Plan, you may be eligible to participate.

To be part of the Shop Small campaign, merchants must warmly welcome American Express Cards1 and process a transaction on their Commbank terminal by 30 September, at no extra charge through the Simple Merchant Plan2.

If you are eligible, American Express will provide online and instore promotional opportunities to promote your business to American Express Card Members.
 

  1. A merchant who warmly welcomes American Express Cards means the surcharge must not exceed your cost of acceptance for the relevant Card Scheme. You should calculate your cost of acceptance at least once a year using the information we provide in your statements. You will receive an annual statement in July each year. There are regulatory consequences if you surcharge above your cost of acceptance
  2. An excess usage fee of 1.5% applies to any monthly card turnover over your included amount. This fee applies only to Merchants on a Simple Merchant Plan

Merchant Choice Routing is not enabled for terminals on a Simple Merchant Plan, as the plan already applies a fixed monthly fee for your terminal and included transactions, regardless of network and card type.

Things you should know

AMEX is available for eligible customers only.  The customer must request AMEX at time of application. 

As long as you stay within the included monthly card turnover, you’ll pay one fixed amount every month for your payment terminal.

Settle transactions to a CommBank Business Transaction Account and we will waive the monthly account fee as long as you stay with the Plan.

Everyday Settlement is available on all transactions made before 10.00pm (AEST) for eligible customers with a Commonwealth Bank business transaction account and a linked Commonwealth Bank merchant facility.

$0 device fee applies to the first Albert or Leo on the $60, $90, $120, $150 fixed plan only. $0 device fee applies to the first Emmy on the $30, $60, $90, $120, $150 fixed plan only.

An excess usage fee of 1.5% applies to any monthly card turnover over your included amount. Additional fees and charges may apply including $30 chargeback fee (per chargeback), $110 service cancellation fee and terminal non-return fee Emmy $250, Leo $950 and Albert $1500. The full fee list will be sent to merchants after merchant application is approved.

7 UnionPay is available for eligible customers only. Diners transactions are available at an additional cost.
