You can now withdraw cash without a card and much more with a simple glimpse of your wrist.

With hundreds of thousands of people expected to buy a smartwatch this year1, you may have been wondering what our plans are for wearable devices. Well today we have some news for you. We’ve just released the latest iteration of our CommBank app, now compatible with Android and Apple smartwatches.

Smartwatches give you the next exciting generation of personal mobile devices, so we’ve designed our app to give you a more personalised, simple and convenient mobile banking experience.

Alongside mobile banking essentials, we’re the first bank in Australia to give you the ability to withdraw cash using your smartwatch via our Cardless Cash feature.

We’ve also gone one step further when it comes to making everyday money management even more convenient, with the ability to check your balance or find your nearest ATM.

How to activate the CommBank app on your smart watch

To get started, you’ll need to download or update to the latest version of the CommBank app. For Android users visit Google Play and for iOS users please visit the App Store.

Next you’ll need to pair your smartwatch with your smartphone and activate the CommBank app. For step-by-step instructions please visit our smartwatch page.

Using the features of the CommBank app for smartwatches

Once you’re all set up, it’s easy to use your smartwatch to manage your everyday finances.

  1. Voice activated app launch – simply raise your wrist to wake up yoursmartwatch and then say “Ok Google, start CommBank” on Android smartwatches or “Hey Siri, Start CommBank” on the Apple smartwatch.
  2. Balance checks – not only can you check your main account balance, you can also scroll down to view other account balances.
  3. Pinpoint ATM locations – instantly find your nearest ATM location using Google Maps. Simply tap on the map and you’ll be guided to your nearest CommBank ATM.
  4. Withdraw cash without a card – using our Cardless Cash technology you can withdraw cash without a card from your smartwatch. Simply select the account and amount you wish to withdraw from, and you’ll be sent the relevant codes and PINs to use at any of our ATMs nationwide.

Things to know before you Can: CommBank app for smartwatches is available for compatible Android smartwatches paired with an Android phone running Android OS 4.3 or newer and the Apple Watch paired with an iPhone 5 or newer, running iOS 8.2 or above.
