Lock, block and limit your card

Lock overseas purchases on your card

With the CommBank app and NetBank, you can have even more control over your CommBank credit card while travelling overseas.

When you’re home in Australia, lock in-store  international payments on your credit card so that no-one can use it to make overseas purchases.*

Simply switch these locks off before you go on holidays. You can do this through the CommBank app or by changing your card settings in NetBank. You can even set these locks to turn back on automatically after a few weeks so that when you return home, no-one can use your card in stores overseas. Learn more here.

Before you travel, learn about accessing NetBank and the CommBank app from overseas - there are a few things you should do to prepare before you go. 

Taking your card overseas

There are a number of advantages to taking a credit card overseas — they are widely accepted, enable you to make cash withdrawals at ATMs, you can link them to a debit account so you can transfer funds, and they save you having to carry large amounts of cash around.   

Lost or stolen cards

If your credit card is lost or stolen overseas, you can cancel your card completely and order a new one, all from within NetBank or the CommBank app, from anywhere in the world.

Once you have reported your card lost or stolen we will send a new card to you within 7 working days.

If you need an emergency replacement credit card, call us on +61 2 9999 3283 and we will cancel it and put you in contact with MasterCard or Visa to organise a replacement card for you. If you’re in need of money, MasterCard or Visa can also arrange an emergency cash advance for you but this will incur interest.

You can also drop into any financial institution that displays the MasterCard® or Visa sign or call the numbers below to organise a replacement. You’ll receive a temporary card, usually within 24 hours.

Please refer to the MasterCard currency conversion tool for conversion rates. Please note these rates are indicative only and that the conversion rate used is the rate that is applied on the date that the transaction is processed by MasterCard, not on the date the transaction was made. 

An International Transaction Fee applies to transactions converted by MasterCard.
