What changes are being made?

  • Phasing out some cash deposit services

With the introduction of QR Cardless, we’re phasing out some of our other business cash deposit services:

    • Cardless Deposits (SMS authenticated deposits) were turned off in May 2025
    • ATM Deposit Code (ADC) will be turned off in July 2025
    • Deposit Only Card (DOC) will be turned off for some customers in July 2025 (you'll be notified if this applies to your business)
  • New ID requirements for deposits

From June 2025, new identification requirements apply to over-the-counter cash transactions. We may ask you or anyone else making in-branch cash deposits into your account for ID, regardless of deposit amount. Depositors should bring their physical ID with them.

  • Why are we making these changes?

Scam and cyber security protection for your business is our priority. We're turning off some cash deposit services and checking ID to improve safety and security. Explore our range of security features and services, including fraud prevention technology and secure banking.

    1. Select Pay
    2. Enter a few transaction details

FAQs for business owners

Employees cannot make cash withdrawals unless they’re an authorised signatory on the business account.

If an employee is an authorised signatory, and it’s an eligible business account, a maximum daily withdrawal limit applies per CommBank app user, per day.

If the business account requires more than one authorised signatory for cash withdrawals, QR Cardless cannot be used to make withdrawals.

Refer to commbank.com.au/qrcardless for withdrawal limits.

When an employee uses QR Cardless to make a cash deposit, they can’t access the business account or see its balance. The employee will only receive a receipt in the app showing:

  • Account name, number and BSB
  • Deposit description
  • Deposit amount

Employees need a device that supports the latest version of the CommBank app. This can be either a personal or business-issued device.

Please destroy any unused or unwanted:

These do not need to be returned to a CommBank branch. Cards will continue to work for change exchange machines.

If you’re in a rural or regional area without access to a CommBank branch or ATM, you can use barcoded deposit slips from Australia Post.
