What you need to provide

Under the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme, eligible small-scale renewable energy systems are entitled to a number of small-scale technology certificates. STC(s) are sold on the open market. The installer usually sells the STC(s) on behalf of the customer in exchange for a discount on the upfront cost of the system

  1. What do I need to do if I receive a notification that my request is incomplete?
    Visit a CBA branch or call 1300 113 539.
  2. I have a joint home loan account. Can my partner and I get $500 each?
    No, the offer is limited to one $500 payment per security address (property).
  3. If I have a joint account, do we both need to raise the request?
    No, only one account holder needs to raise the request.
  4. I have two properties with solar panels with an output of 5 kilowatts (kW) or more. Am I eligible for $500 cashback for each property if I can provide documentation?
    Yes, provided each property meets the eligibility criteria. The total loan balance across the properties must be $50,000 or more.
  5. When do I need to contact CommBank and submit my request?
    Requests need to be lodged and documentation received by 11:59pm AEST 13 September 2019.
  6. How will CommBank handle my documents?
    We collect and use your documents so we can assess your eligibility for the offer. You may decline to share certain personal information with us, in which case we will not be able to confirm your eligibility for the offer. We may share these documents with any third parties for audit purposes or when required by law. We may share these documents to overseas recipients if the law requires us to do so.   9. What if I have solar panels with less than 5 kilowatt outage?
    Unfortunately systems under 5 kilowatts are not eligible for this offer.
  10. How soon will I receive my $500 cashback?
    If you’re eligible and the correct documentation has been provided, you will receive payment within 4 weeks of submitting all your required documentation.
  11. Can I nominate which CommBank transaction account the $500 cashback credited to?
    No, the cashback will be deposited into an open Commonwealth Bank transaction account in the name of the applicant.
  12. What if I don’t have a CommBank transaction account?
    To receive the $500 cashback, you’ll need to have an open Commonwealth Bank transaction account. A condition of eligibility is that the applicant has an open Commonwealth Bank transaction account.
  13. Can I nominate someone to raise the request on my behalf?
    No, the request must be raised by an account holder.
  14. Is my apartment or unit eligible to receive the cashback?
    No, apartments and units are not eligible for this offer, it is available for residential houses only (including townhouses and duplexes).
  15. Is my commercial property eligible to receive the cashback?
    No commercial property is eligible for this offer. Only residential properties are eligible.

Things you should know

The solar panel must be installed on a property financed by a Commonwealth Bank home loan(s) with a total outstanding loan balance of $50,000 or greater. The $500 cashback is available for eligible residential owner occupied and investment loans. The solar panel must have a minimum system output (power capacity) of at least 5 kilowatts (kW). Customers must provide acceptable documentation that shows the security address where the solar panel(s) is/are installed, the date of installation and the minimum system output of at least 5kW. One form of acceptable documentation either a Paid Installation Invoice, Certificate of Electrical Compliance, Small-Scale Technology Certificate (STC), STC Assignment Form or STC Assignment Form Confirmation is acceptable. Limit of one $500 payment per security address. If all criteria have been met, the $500 cashback will be transferred to a Commonwealth Bank transaction account only, within 4 weeks of the required evidence being provided. Bankwest home loan, Viridian line of credit, Equity Unlock for Seniors, apartments, units and commercial properties are ineligible for this offer.
