Things you should know

Waived for the duration of your studies. We’ll automatically set up Student Options for 12 months on the Everyday Account Smart Access you open via this webpage if cookies are enabled on your browser. If your cookies are disabled you will need to visit a branch with your current student ID to activate Student Options.

You can add your CommBank Debit Mastercard or credit card (except for additional cardholders on a Visa credit card). Some CommBank cards are ineligible including Keycard, Travel Money Card, Business or Corporate card. 

Student discounts apply if you are a tertiary student at an educational institution located in Australia or are undertaking an Australian Apprenticeship. You must show us suitable student identification in branch.

4 The annual fee is charged at $5 per month, or $2 per month if you: 1) Set up automated monthly repayments through our credit card AutoPay from a CommBank transaction account; and 2) Opt in to receive online statements on your CommBank Essentials account through NetBank (and to enable this, you maintain your NetBank facility and provide us with a valid email address).

5 You must be a domestic Australian student to apply, International students on a student visa are not eligible. Unsecured personal loan repayment terms range from 1 to 7 years. Interest rate ranges and representative examples are based on an unsecured loan of $30,000 borrowed for 5 years are as follows:

  • With the minimum interest rate for a variable rate loan of 13.90% p.a. (14.77% p.a. comparison rate) or with the minimum interest rate for a fixed rate loan of 12.99% p.a. (13.86% p.a. comparison rate), the estimated total amount payable including fees is $42,540 or $41,696 respectively; and
  • With the maximum interest rate for a variable rate or fixed rate loan of 18.9% p.a. (19.74% p.a. comparison rate), the estimated total amount payable including fees is $47,344.

The Comparison rate is calculated on loans as follows:

  • For Variable Rate Loans: comparison based on an unsecured $30,000 loan over five years;
  • For Fixed Rate Loans: for loan terms of 1 to 3 years, comparison based on an unsecured $10,000 loan over 3 years.  For loan terms of 4 to 7 years, comparison based on an unsecured $30,000 loan over 5 years;
  • For Secured Car Loan: comparison based on a secured $30,000 loan over 5 years.
