What happened?

PageUp is an Australian technology provider used by a number of government agencies and organisations, including the Commonwealth Bank Group, for recruitment activities.

In June, we paused our recruitment activities after receiving notification from PageUp that an unauthorised person gained access to PageUp systems containing certain personal information relating to employees, job applicants and some referees.

We take the protection of data very seriously, so we took a cautious approach and shut down our connections to PageUp while independent investigations were carried out into the incident. PageUp have since advised their systems are now secure, including existing and new data held in their systems.

We are now comfortable switching PageUp on again.

Which of the Commonwealth Bank Group brands uses PageUp for recruitment?

Across our Group the subsidiaries who use PageUp’s recruitment systems include:

  • Commonwealth Bank
  • Bankwest
  • Aussie Home Loans, for internal applications only
  • Some of our international branches, including Asia, United Kingdom and the United States of America
  • TYME, our South African based subsidiary
