The total Interest Only period for the life of the loan must not exceed a maximum term of 10 years for a Home Loan or 15 years for an Investment Loan.

During the interest only period your repayments cover the interest owing but won’t reduce the principal amount borrowed.

While you can switch between ‘principal and interest’ and ‘interest only’ repayment options during the life of the loan, your total ‘interest only’ periods cannot exceed the timeframes specified above.
