How to apply

1. Complete the short application form.

You’ll then be able to access your account straight away and transfer money instantly.

We recommend:

  • You know the city you will be staying when you arrive and,
  • You know your entry visa information

2. Visit a branch once you arrive in Australia

Make sure you bring:

  • Your current passport (original document required)
  • Your Tax Identification Number (TIN) for each country of foreign tax residency
  • Your student ID or letter of enrolment (students only)

3. Start banking

  • Withdraw your money at the largest bank ATM network in Australia
  • Download the CommBank app or log on to NetBank to get easy access to your money

Both types of accounts require you to be identified in a CommBank branch, in Australia, to gain full access to your account. Once you have done this you will be able to withdraw your money and collect your Debit Mastercard.7 If you are opening a joint account with another person, you must go to a branch to be identified together.

5 Monthly account fee waived for accounts with at least $2,000 deposited each calendar month and if you are 21 to 24 years old you will be exempt from monthly account fees if you deposit at least $1000 into the account each calendar month (excludes Bank initiated transactions).
